Micah Project

“God has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?”

-Micah 6:8

Here, Micah gives seemingly simple directions on how to ‘do the good’ to which God has called each of us. We are just required to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God. That’s it. Many of us today would yearn for such concise to-do lists. Instead our time gets monopolized by life’s necessities, so that when we finally take time to breathe and contemplate what is good, all of the ways, souls, zeal, and time to do so can be overwhelming!

The Micah Project is a small group opportunity that incorporate these themes from Micah 6:8. All are welcome to join as we explore how doing justice, loving kindness, and walking humbly with God can become a way of life instead of items on a to-do list. We will meet on Sundays at 6pm in the Young Spirits classroom. The 4th Sunday of each month we will take a week off from our weekly study and participate in the Taizé worship service in the sanctuary.

The Micah Project is currently in the middle of the 9 week study ‘This I Know’ which is a companion curriculum to the award-winning documentary ‘For the Bible Tells Me So.’ This study is designed to create a safe space for meaningful conversation around issues of homosexuality and the church. The study aims to prove tools to respond constructively to issues that arise and to offer guidance through the example of Christ’s inclusive love.
