Chelsey Hedglin Centering Music:Caleb Dinger, Organ Call to Worship: written by Leigh Ann Cate: Rev. John Hill Ephesians 2:19 tells us, “You are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household.” May we be ever mindful that all those we encounter are children of God. Throughout history, we have failed to see people, both fellow Christians and those outside the Christian faith, as anything more than enemies of our own beliefs. May our sight be restored to see all people through the eyes of Christ. Hymns: Fill My Cup, Lord and All Who Are ThirstyFill My Cup, Lord Fill my cup, Lord, I lift it up, Lord. Come and quench this thirsting of my soul. Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more; fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole. All Who Are Thirsty Verse 1 All who are thirsty All who are weak Come to the fountain Dip your heart in the stream of life Let the pain and the sorrow Be washed away In the waves of His mercy As deep cries out to deep Chorus 1 Come Lord Jesus come Come Lord Jesus come All who are thirsty All who are weak Come to the fountain Dip your heart in the stream of life Let the pain and the sorrow Be washed away In the waves of His mercy As deep cries out to deep Chorus 1 Come Lord Jesus come Come Lord Jesus come Chorus 2 Holy Spirit Come Holy Spirit Come Opening Prayer: Rev. Chelsey Hedglin God of all people, you have made each of us unique and wonderful. Though we seek ways to separate and divide, draw us together in your name. Help us to learn from one another and be changed for good, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Scripture Reading: John 4:1-15: Rev. Chelsey Hedglin Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard, “Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John” —although it was not Jesus himself but his disciples who baptized— he left Judea and started back to Galilee. But he had to go through Samaria. So he came to a Samaritan city called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired out by his journey, was sitting by the well. It was about noon. A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” (His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us the well, and with his sons and his flocks drank from it?” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.” Sermon: Bible on Broadway – Wicked: Rev. Closing Hymn: Grace AloneGrace Alone Verse 1 Every promise we can make, every prayer and step of faith, every difference we will make is only by his grace. Every mountain we will climb, every ray of hope we shine, every blessing left behind is only by his grace. Refrain Grace alone which God supplies, strength unknown he will provide. Christ in us our Cornerstone; we will go forth in grace alone. Verse 2 Every soul we long to reach, every heart we hope to teach, everywhere we share his peace is only by his grace. Every loving word we say, every tear we wipe away, every sorrow turned to praise is only by his grace. Refrain Grace alone which God supplies, strength unknown he will provide. Christ in us our Cornerstone; we will go forth in grace alone. Benediction: Rev. John Hill |
