Visiting Crievewood

Visiting a new church can be daunting, and we strive to give you as much information as possible to help you feel comfortable before you even get here. Our staff and volunteer hosts are happy to assist you and help you settle in when you visit. You’ll be welcomed at the door or in the narthex (lobby) and invited to make a nametag so that we can call you by name.

Basic Information
Our worship service begins at 10:00, so plan to arrive a few minutes before then to find a parking spot and make your way into the building. We even have a few parking spots reserved for visitors right near the entrance. Our building is accessible with a ramp at the main entrance, accessible bathroom stalls, and an elevator. Our worship style could be described as relaxed traditional. We follow a traditional United Methodist order of worship but are not heavy on formal liturgy, and we sing mostly hymns from our hymnal but sometimes mix in more modern songs. We no longer use a paper bulletin, but all the words to the hymns and prayers and anything else you might need will be on the screens in the sanctuary. You can also pull up the entire order of worship here.

Children
We love having children in our worship service, and they are always welcome to stay in the sanctuary with you. We do offer a staffed nursery for children three and under. There are activity clipboards at the Welcome Center to help children stay engaged. Each Sunday, we have a Children’s Moment near the beginning of the worship service where children are invited to come forward for a special time of sharing with Pastor John or a volunteer. Afterwards, kids in third grade and under are invited to go to Kids Worship for the remainder of the service. On Sundays when we celebrate communion (typically the first Sunday of each month), we do not offer Kids Worship and instead encourage families to worship together for the entire service.

Dress
Clothing choices at Crievewood vary with each individual and on a typical Sunday morning can range from “Sunday best” to jeans or shorts. All are welcome, and we encourage you to dress to suit your comfort level. What matters to us is that you join us!
