We are pilgrims on a journey; we’re together on the road. We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load. I will hold the Christ-light for you in the night time of your fear; I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear. I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh, I’ll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow till we’ve seen this journey through. When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such harmony, born of all we’ve known together of Christ’s love and agony. Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you; pray that I might have the grace to let you be my servant, too. Apostles’ Creed (in unison): Rev. John HillI believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Scripture Reading: Matthew 25:35-36: Rev. John Hill For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Glory to God! Amen. Closing Hymn: O Jesus I Have Promised O Jesus, I Have Promised O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end; be thou forever near me, my Master and my friend. I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side, nor wander from the pathway if thou wilt be my guide. O, let me feel Thee near me! The world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear; my foes are ever near me, around me and within; but, Jesus, draw thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin. O, let me hear thee speaking, in accents clear and still, above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self-will. O speak to reassure me, to hasten, or control; O, speak, and make me listen, thou guardian of my soul. O Jesus, thou hast promised to all who follow thee that where thou art in glory there shall thy servant be. And Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end; O, give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend. Benediction: Rev. Chelsey Hedglin |
